Healthy and tasty usually don’t go hand to hand when it comes to eating delicious food. I had the opportunity to try some new food without sacrificing the taste. Usually my appetite and healthy don’t go well together. I’ve tried a couple of “healthy” prepared food before and came to conclusion it wasn’t for me at the time. One of the biggest gripes of anyone trying to eat healthy is the aspect of food not tasting good. Usually the salt content is super low. Over the years this has slowly change for the better as salt alternatives come into play in cooking the food.. Its been several years since I had those type of meals, so it was only right that I had a fresh new outlook!
Eatfitters of Houston have several locations around Houston, so it should be pretty easy to find one near your area. They recommend several meal plans that are catered to your taste , eating habits and goals. My weekly plan encompassed a breakfast, snack, lunch and another snack and dinner.
At first glance, the food looks great. And that’s a positive thing!
I started with the Breakfast Turkey Hash . This was really good and definitely filling. I seriously thought that it wouldn’t be enough food, but it definitely hit the spot once I finished the meal.
It was a hard choice and picking which snack that I wanted to eat first. since it was still morning time I decided on the Yogurt Parfait. It was filled with greek yogurt, blueberries, strawberries and topped with granola. The flavor was like having a light dessert. If you gave this to any kid to have for dessert, I am sure they wouldn’t be able to tell if it was something “healthy”. I would have never really consider this a mid morning snack, but if something taste like a dessert and I can eat it in the morning, then its has my blessing!
Now for lunch.
For lunch I chose to eat the Turkey Bolognese. This is the first I had something healthy and didn’t need any type of seasoning. You can tell it was low sodium, but overall the flavor profile was very balanced. It came with ground turkey meat with carrots over whole wheat noodles. It also came with steamed broccoli.
The next snack for the day was the cheesecake. Yes. The cheesecake was a snack and not a dessert. Now if there’s any excuse to eat sweets, this would be the best time to make that very case. The cheesecake was very good. It came with sliced strawberries on top with a graham cracker crust.
Once I left work, I was definitely awaiting dinner for the night. SInce this was my last portion I chose to leave one my favorite dishes of all time for last. Lasagna!!! In this case it was Turkey Spinach lasagna with a side of steamed squashed. I made a great choice! A real good choice which led to me to wish I had a second portion. But we all know that portion control is very important in beginning a healthy eating lifestyle.
Overall, the food was very acceptable. Very tasty and surprisingly fulfilling. After a long day at work, everyone dreams of having their food already cooked for the day and this food is basically that for people with a busy lifestyle.
